Process Flow
The material for the rollers is determined based on user requirements, with roller blanks ordered according to design specifications. Currently, forged steel rollers typically use materials such as Cr2, Cr3, or Cr5. Electro-slag remelting is employed, with a forging ratio exceeding 3. The longitudinal section of the remelted ingot exhibits a “V”-shaped crystalline structure, and white spots are not permitted. Internal cracks, shrinkage cavities, peeling, and visible non-metallic inclusions are prohibited.
Quenching and tempering constitutes a critical preparatory heat treatment prior to the final induction-heated quenching of cold-rolled rolls. Its purpose is to establish the requisite primary microstructure for the final heat treatment, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of both the roll neck and core. The microstructure following quenching and tempering comprises tempered sorbite with speckled carbides. The carbides within the matrix are specified to be entirely granular, uniformly distributed, and controlled within a particle size range of 0–2.5 micrometres. Cold-rolled rolls in this condition exhibit high wear resistance and excellent impact toughness, meeting the demands of modern cold rolling mills.
The final heat treatment for rollers comprises through-hardening, single-frequency induction continuous heating and quenching, and dual-frequency induction continuous heating and quenching.
The cold treatment process occurs between the final heat treatment of quenching and low-temperature tempering. It involves cooling the working layer of the roller body to below 0°C using liquid nitrogen or dry ice mixed with alcohol, typically within the temperature range of -70°C to -85°C, and maintaining this condition for a specified period.
Mainly to eliminate stress and achieve the set hardness value.
With the needs of market competition, users have increasingly high requirements for the surface quality of rolled materials, and the rolling speed of rolling mills is getting faster and faster. Therefore, it is necessary for the rolling mill to have better accuracy. We use fully CNC machining equipment to meet the needs of users.
Our products must pass the following strict quality inspections before leaving the factory:
1. Testing of hardness and depth of hardened layer
2. Metallographic structure analysis
3. Grain size detection
4. Determination of residual austenite content
5. Detection of mechanical dimensions and positional tolerances
