Changzhou Roller Leads Domestic High-level Cold Roller Market

A few days ago, the “Large Special Precision Roller Technique Industrialization” program of Changzhou Roller Corporation, Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group Co., Ltd. was listed Jiangsu key scientific research industrialization program this year. Jiangsu province and Changzhou invested more than RMB 16 million to support the new large special precision roller thermal treatment and machining program of Changzhou Roller. This is a pleasing achievement for Changzhou Roller to depend on the large scientific research platform of Baosteel and insist on promoting development by advanced technology.

In recent years, Changzhou Roller has closely cooperated with Baosteel Research Institute, Material and Part Purchase Department, Equipment Department of Baosteel Branch and Cold Rolling Plant and continuously promoted the development and innovation of new materials, new products and application and maintenance technologies of large precision cold rollers through surrounding the customer development demands of Baosteel and depending on the large roller scientific research platform of Baosteel. On the basis of successful joint development of MC5 and semi-high speed steel rollers as well as promotion and application in Baosteel in prophase, it firstly successfully developed, ultra deep hardening layer cold rollers and other new products in China and replaced the imported products, leading the development of domestic high-level cold roller manufacturing industry and technology. The high wear resistant cold rollers, roll mark preventive cold rollers are the sole rollers independently developed in China able to roll high quality automotive plates and household electrical appliance plates. Roll mark preventive rollers are excellent on cold rolling spot of Baosteel and the roll mark prevention level is 20% higher than that of the similar imported ones. Till now, Changzhou Roller has taken over 70% share of high-level cold roller market and become a special cold roller manufacturer with the largest scale and the most advanced production technologies in China.

Aiming at the lack of roller resources and gradual growth of high-level roller demand by Baosteel “11th Five Year” programs, Changzhou Roller proactively responds to roller purchase integration required by Baosteel, strives to guarantee high-level cold roller supply to Baosteel and creates Baosteel roller supply base through making strategic alliances with upstream roller blank suppliers, closely tracking Baosteeel new project construction and continuously breaking through production bottle necks, etc. Changzhou Roller has arranged many technical backbones to coordinate with Baosteel project team for technical exchange of stainless steel cold rollers, silicon steel cold rollers and Sendizimir mill rollers, carried on prophase study of roller preparation, equipment, application and consumption for the cold roller program of Baosteel Branch V. It guarantees the high precision requirement for rollers and greatly improves output through automation modification of two double frequency quenching equipment and adding special roller NC lathes, special roller NC boring machines and special roller milling machines. Within the first 7 months this year, Changzhou Roller has produced more than 800t high-level cold rollers, increasing above 30% compared with the same period last year.

To strengthen development, Changzhou Roller is striving to promote the key new thermal treatment and machining program supported by Jiangsu province and Changzhou. The thermal treatment capacity will increase 40% after the commissioning in the end of the year. Besides, it sets up a virtual joint innovation team with the R&D, purchasing, equipment and production parties of Baosteel this year and will set up new product development and quality improvement programs and jointly decide innovation plans according to the development strategy demand of Baoseel, development and change of cold rollers and on-site production quality, etc. Now, the research of new generation high wear resistant and high strength cold roller led by Baosteel Research Institute and attended by Changzhou Roller and other parties has been started.
